Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.06% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 4.19% or 0.90 points to trade at 22.40 at the close. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) added 1.28% or 0.20 points to end at 15.40 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was up 1.01% or 2.30 points to 229.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randstad (AS:RAND), which lost 1.53% or 0.86 points to trade at 55.33 in late trade. Vopak (AS:VOPA) declined 1.23% or 0.51 points to end at 40.92 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 0.69% or 0.550 points to 78.850.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 84 to 45 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.92% to 12.69 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.47% or 0.23 to $49.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.35% or 0.18 to hit $51.95 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.97% or 12.42 to trade at $1265.08 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.72% to 1.0945, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.8524.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 98.63.
