Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumption, Real Estate and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3), which rose 1.73% or 0.49 points to trade at 28.88 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 1.72% or 0.17 points to end at 10.07 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 1.69% or 0.26 points to 15.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 3.32% or 0.29 points to trade at 8.45 in late trade. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 2.81% or 0.58 points to end at 20.03 and Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) shed 2.64% or 0.89 points to 32.81.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 191 to 183 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.80% to 32.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.10% or 1.25 to $1256.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.65% or 0.86 to hit $53.10 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.31% or 0.43 to trade at $139.80 .
USD/BRL was down 0.33% to 3.1359, while EUR/BRL fell 0.28% to 3.3224.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 100.95.
