Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Auto and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 6.80 points to trade at 74.80 at the close. Young Optics (TW:3504) added 9.92% or 2.50 points to end at 27.70 and Getac Tech (TW:3005) was up 9.89% or 3.65 points to 40.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Goldsun Const (TW:2504), which lost 9.81% or 0.67 points to trade at 6.16 in late trade. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 9.80% or 0.29 points to end at 2.67 and Solytech (TW:1471) shed 4.41% or 0.20 points to 4.34.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 474 to 292 and 105 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.18% or 0.57 to $48.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.19% or 0.58 to hit $49.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.58% or 7.05 to trade at $1216.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 31.906, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2160.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 101.04.
