WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Support for New Zealand's National Party surged in a poll released on Thursday showed, pointing to a fourth term for the governing party and reversing the opposition Labour Party's recent burst of popularity.
Backing for the National Party rose 4 points to 47.3 percent, the Newshub-Reid poll showed, while support for the Labour Party fell 1.6 points to 37.8 percent.
The election takes place on Sept. 23.
The New Zealand dollar jumped to $0.7254, having stood at $0.7224 shortly before the poll results were released.
