Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LISBON:BBPI), which rose 5.99% or 0.0510 points to trade at 0.9020 at the close. Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP) added 3.99% or 0.3540 points to end at 9.2310 and EDP Renovaveis (LISBON:EDPRu) was up 2.52% or 0.1470 points to 5.9700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA), which unchanged 0.43% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.69 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) declined 0.35% or 0.0010 points to end at 0.2830 and J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) shed 0.04% or 0.0050 points to 12.2850.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 40 to 13 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for November delivery was up 4.12% or 1.97 to $49.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 5.52% or 2.46 to hit $47.05 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.89% or 20.80 to trade at $1123.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1315, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.7306.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 95.35.
