Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Transportation and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (L:GLEN), which rose 3.94% or 3.5600 points to trade at 93.9800 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (L:RR) added 3.34% or 19.00 points to end at 588.00 and Intertek Group PLC (L:ITRK) was up 3.25% or 84.00 points to 2665.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (L:BRBY), which lost 5.01% or 63.000 points to trade at 1195.000 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (L:ICAG) declined 3.26% or 18.50 points to end at 549.50 and Whitbread PLC (L:WTB) shed 3.17% or 141.00 points to 4306.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1488 to 624 and 433 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.85% or 9.10 to $1075.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.38% or 1.41 to hit $43.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.36% or 1.50 to trade at $46.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.37% to 1.5068, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.7076.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 99.56.
