Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Household and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 1.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr), which rose 4.61% or 0.022 points to trade at 0.499 at the close. Terna Energy (AT:TENr) added 2.63% or 0.08 points to end at 3.12 and Elgeka (AT:ELGr) was up 2.00% or 0.005 points to 0.255 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iaso (AT:IASr), which lost 7.50% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.740 in late trade. Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) declined 6.54% or 0.070 points to end at 1.000 and Public Power (AT:DEHr) shed 6.24% or 0.33 points to 4.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 52 to 23 and 4 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.25% or 3.00 to $1189.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.71% or 0.41 to hit $57.10 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.07 to trade at $61.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.0912, while EUR/GBP rose 0.53% to 0.7140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 97.43.
