Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 6.93% or 37.90 points to trade at 585.10 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.44% or 4.7000 points to end at 141.5000 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.00% or 28.00 points to 961.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which lost 3.44% or 6.40 points to trade at 179.80 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 3.34% or 69.00 points to end at 1995.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) shed 2.38% or 13.000 points to 534.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1128 to 949 and 474 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.25% or 15.50 to $1259.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.17% or 0.86 to hit $40.58 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.36% or 0.99 to trade at $42.93 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.82% to 1.4240, while EUR/GBP fell 0.79% to 0.8014.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 93.96.
