Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Insurance and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Meidensha Corp. (T:6508), which rose 3.58% or 15.0 points to trade at 434.0 at the close. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) added 3.08% or 18.0 points to end at 602.0 and Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (T:7202) was up 2.77% or 33.5 points to 1243.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714), which lost 4.95% or 34.0 points to trade at 653.0 in late trade. IHI Corp. (T:7013) declined 4.69% or 13.0 points to end at 264.0 and Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) shed 4.42% or 13.0 points to 281.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1294 to 550 and 153 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.00% to 25.95 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.67% or 0.32 to $47.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.81% or 0.39 to hit $47.96 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.59% or 7.35 to trade at $1244.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 109.33, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 122.56.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.33.
