Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Financials and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB declined 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU), which rose 6.17% or 0.90 points to trade at 15.48 at the close. Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) added 3.32% or 0.38 points to end at 11.82 and Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) was up 2.71% or 2.40 points to 91.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI), which lost 4.13% or 0.340 points to trade at 7.900 in late trade. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MILAN:BMPS) declined 3.70% or 0.0680 points to end at 1.7720 and Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) shed 3.44% or 0.28 points to 7.87.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 262 to 191 and 7 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.56% or 1.23 to $49.21 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.12% or 0.59 to hit $53.90 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.10 to trade at $1095.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1025, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7056.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 96.96.
