Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Travel & Leisure and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 4.58% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Italcementi (MI:ITAI), which fell 0.20% or 0.020 points to trade at 10.230 at the close. Moncler SpA (MI:MONC) fell 1.25% or 0.16 points to end at 12.67 and Enel (MI:ENEI) was down 1.35% or 0.0480 points to 3.4980 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MI:SPMI), which lost 25.29% or 0.1315 points to trade at 0.3885 in late trade. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) declined 11.95% or 0.0705 points to end at 0.5195 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) shed 11.93% or 0.538 points to 3.970.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 417 to 21 and 8 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 2.20% or 0.68 to $30.21 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.38% or 0.47 to hit $33.59 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 3.05% or 35.30 to trade at $1193.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1164, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.7744.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.89.
