Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Glass and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014), which rose 9.94% or 0.71 points to trade at 7.85 at the close. Yieh Phui (TW:2023) added 7.66% or 0.90 points to end at 12.65 and Cx Tech (TW:2415) was up 7.17% or 1.60 points to 23.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coadna (TW:4984), which lost 9.96% or 5.30 points to trade at 47.90 in late trade. AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531) declined 9.40% or 6.40 points to end at 61.70 and Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) shed 8.14% or 3.50 points to 39.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 543 to 211 and 111 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.41% or 0.62 to $44.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.27% or 0.58 to hit $46.16 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.11% or 14.45 to trade at $1290.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 31.466, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2156.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.70% at 97.62.
