Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Media, Retail and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 1.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which rose 8.70% or 0.024 points to trade at 0.300 at the close. Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) added 8.17% or 0.034 points to end at 0.450 and Intrakat (AT:INCr) was up 7.66% or 0.042 points to 0.590 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which lost 7.63% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.218 in late trade. Dromeas (AT:DROr) declined 7.41% or 0.010 points to end at 0.135 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 4.93% or 0.027 points to 0.521.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 52 to 24 and 4 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.64% or 7.60 to $1190.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.64% or 0.97 to hit $60.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.78% or 1.17 to trade at $66.79 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.1234, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.7175.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.61% at 94.53.
