Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Banking and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 2.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Intralot (AT:INLr), which rose 5.33% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.78 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 13.01% or 0.016 points to end at 0.139 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 7.27% or 0.08 points to 1.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which lost 13.38% or 0.036 points to trade at 0.233 in late trade. Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr) declined 1.10% or 0.001 points to end at 0.090 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) shed 7.97% or 0.063 points to 0.727.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 53 to 23 and 1 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.37% or 4.40 to $1188.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.10% or 1.27 to hit $61.67 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 1.25 to trade at $68.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.46% to 1.1349, while EUR/GBP rose 1.05% to 0.7443.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.19% at 94.13.
