Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Industrial Products and Trade & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI rose 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which rose 2.90% or 0.09 points to trade at 3.19 at the close. DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) added 2.26% or 0.14 points to end at 6.33 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) was up 2.19% or 0.12 points to 5.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KL:KLKK), which lost 1.92% or 0.44 points to trade at 22.42 in late trade. Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE) declined 1.69% or 0.04 points to end at 2.33 and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB) shed 1.30% or 0.22 points to 16.68.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 55 to 45 and 4 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.50% or 0.73 to $48.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.64% or 0.36 to hit $56.05 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.92% or 11.00 to trade at $1189.70 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.03% to 2.6831, while USD/MYR rose 0.76% to 3.7124.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.35% at 97.95.
