Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Communication and Internet, Trading & Consumer Goods and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 0.63 points to trade at 6.93 at the close. Vivotek (TW:3454) added 9.97% or 7.00 points to end at 77.20 and Apex (TW:3052) was up 9.73% or 0.90 points to 10.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merry Eltrs (TW:2439), which lost 10.00% or 5.10 points to trade at 45.90 in late trade. Tpk Holding (TW:3673) declined 10.00% or 12.00 points to end at 108.00 and Azurewave (TW:3694) shed 9.97% or 1.65 points to 14.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 573 to 267 and 2 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.78% or 0.38 to $48.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.74% or 0.40 to hit $52.91 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.46% or 5.00 to trade at $1083.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 31.618, while TWD/CNY rose 0.25% to 0.1967.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 97.42.
