Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.11%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP), which rose 3.35% or 2.74 points to trade at 84.43 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 2.08% or 2.30 points to end at 112.85 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) was up 1.76% or 0.56 points to 32.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which lost 4.84% or 4.67 points to trade at 91.83 in late trade. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 2.61% or 1.06 points to end at 39.72 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) shed 1.75% or 0.58 points to 32.92.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 9.51% to 11.28, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 4.43% to settle at 7.291 and Edenred (PA:EDEN) which gained 3.74% to close at 14.71.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 6.89% to 3.88 in late trade, CGG (PA:GEPH) which lost 6.00% to settle at 0.47 and Adocia (PA:ADOC) which was down 5.07% to 48.700 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 341 to 325 and 105 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.31% to 33.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 2.38% or 29.50 to $1209.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.12% or 0.33 to hit $29.11 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.70% or 0.90 to trade at $32.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1140, while EUR/GBP rose 0.82% to 0.7792.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 96.88.
