Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Banking and Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were LPP SA (WA:LPPP), which rose 2.77% or 196.45 points to trade at 7290.00 at the close. Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN) added 2.33% or 0.15 points to end at 6.58 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) was up 1.72% or 0.65 points to 38.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE), which lost 2.37% or 0.10 points to trade at 4.12 in late trade. Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) declined 1.74% or 7.85 points to end at 443.35 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) shed 1.46% or 1.50 points to 101.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 305 to 235 and 118 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.25% or 0.65 to $52.85 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.77% or 0.45 to hit $58.60 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.06% or 0.70 to trade at $1154.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.14% to 4.1315, while USD/PLN fell 0.24% to 3.7528.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 96.84.
