Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Chemicals and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB lost 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU), which rose 1.91% or 0.27 points to trade at 14.38 at the close. Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) added 1.82% or 0.21 points to end at 11.73 and Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) was up 1.25% or 0.18 points to 14.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM), which lost 4.43% or 0.410 points to trade at 8.855 in late trade. Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER) declined 3.74% or 1.12 points to end at 28.81 and Finmeccanica (MILAN:SIFI) shed 3.16% or 0.360 points to 11.050.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 345 to 128 and 5 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.31% or 1.86 to $58.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 3.39% or 2.12 to hit $64.86 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.90 to trade at $1190.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.89% to 1.0820, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.7184.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.76% at 97.50.
