Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Information Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which rose 3.21% or 2.08 points to trade at 66.87 at the close. Energa SA (WA:ENGP) added 2.79% or 0.36 points to end at 13.26 and Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) was up 2.68% or 7.65 points to 293.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM), which lost 1.85% or 1.36 points to trade at 72.08 in late trade. Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) declined 1.76% or 0.90 points to end at 50.10 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) shed 1.23% or 66.60 points to 5330.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 273 to 219 and 183 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.85% or 0.71 to $37.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.56% or 1.05 to hit $40.02 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.98% or 12.30 to trade at $1269.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.32% to 4.3360, while USD/PLN fell 1.23% to 3.8810.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.01% at 96.21.
