Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr), which rose 5.74% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.52 at the close. FHL I Kiriakidis Marbles and Granites SA (AT:KRKr) added 3.62% or 0.080 points to end at 2.290 and Titan Cement (AT:TTNr) was up 2.45% or 0.490 points to 20.490 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr), which lost 22.55% or 0.023 points to trade at 0.079 in late trade. Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr) declined 19.61% or 0.030 points to end at 0.123 and Reds (AT:CAMr) shed 9.97% or 0.035 points to 0.316.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 64 to 35 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1113.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.61% or 1.25 to hit $46.65 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.90% or 1.47 to trade at $49.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.93% to 1.0861, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.7059.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.78% at 98.01.
