Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Mobile Telecommunications and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 2.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SABMiller PLC (LONDON:SAB), which rose 1.30% or 46.50 points to trade at 3634.50 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LONDON:BAES) added 1.02% or 4.500 points to end at 444.500 and ITV PLC (LONDON:ITV) was up 0.93% or 2.30 points to 250.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which lost 29.42% or 28.6000 points to trade at 68.6200 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL) declined 10.09% or 62.00 points to end at 552.70 and BHP Billiton PLC (LONDON:BLT) shed 6.03% or 61.90 points to 964.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1659 to 487 and 433 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.03% or 11.80 to $1133.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.30% or 1.05 to hit $44.65 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.23% or 1.08 to trade at $47.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.14% to 1.5199, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.7388.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 96.13.
