Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Electronic Products Distribution and Transport sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.11% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taita Chemical (TW:1309), which rose 10.00% or 0.75 points to trade at 8.25 at the close. U-Tech (TW:3050) added 9.95% or 0.66 points to end at 7.29 and Chang Type (TW:1541) was up 9.93% or 2.10 points to 23.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included G.M.I (TW:3312), which lost 9.95% or 1.00 points to trade at 9.05 in late trade. Asia Plastic (TW:1337) declined 9.94% or 1.60 points to end at 14.50 and J Touch (TW:3584) shed 9.94% or 0.84 points to 7.61.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 590 to 245 and 5 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.08% or 0.47 to $42.65 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.07% or 0.53 to hit $48.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.49% or 5.50 to trade at $1118.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 32.320, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1975.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 96.67.
