Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Products, Consumer Products and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI rose 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB), which rose 2.42% or 0.15 points to trade at 6.35 at the close. AMMB Holdings Bhd (KL:AMMB) added 2.13% or 0.12 points to end at 5.75 and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB) was up 1.45% or 0.22 points to 15.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which lost 1.11% or 0.06 points to trade at 5.34 in late trade. Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TLMM) declined 0.74% or 0.05 points to end at 6.70 and IHH Healthcare Bhd (KL:IHHH) shed 0.68% or 0.04 points to 5.84.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 271 to 271 and 39 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.87% or 0.98 to $51.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.09% or 1.24 to hit $57.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.29% or 3.40 to trade at $1154.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.10% to 2.8108, while USD/MYR rose 0.27% to 3.8036.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 96.54.
