Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Footwear & Textile, Diversified Holdings and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.54% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which rose 17.80% or 240.20 points to trade at 1590.00 at the close. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) added 17.22% or 181.90 points to end at 1238.00 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was up 16.67% or 0.1000 points to 0.7000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML), which lost 16.67% or 4.00 points to trade at 20.00 in late trade. East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) declined 10.88% or 1.60 points to end at 13.10 and Guardian Capital Partners PLC (CM:WAPO) shed 10.03% or 3.90 points to 35.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 108 to 44 and 53 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.27% or 1.22 to $54.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.22% or 1.26 to hit $58.08 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.85 to trade at $1148.85 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.17% to 183.830, while USD/LKR rose 0.11% to 149.950.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.86% at 103.25.
