Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Basic Resources and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 4.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr), which rose 13.04% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.26 at the close. Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) added 11.63% or 0.200 points to end at 1.920 and Metka (AT:MTKr) was up 11.41% or 0.67 points to 6.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 7.50% or 0.0120 points to trade at 0.1480 in late trade. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 5.02% or 0.021 points to end at 0.397 and Select Textile (AT:EPIr) shed 4.61% or 0.007 points to 0.145.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 72 to 26 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.30% or 3.35 to $1133.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.51% or 0.77 to hit $51.67 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.67% or 0.90 to trade at $54.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.0432, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8382.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 103.00.
