Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Precision (TW:3016), which rose 9.94% or 1.80 points to trade at 19.90 at the close. Ygg (TW:1589) added 9.38% or 16.00 points to end at 186.50 and Tainergy Tech (TW:4934) was up 9.31% or 1.35 points to 15.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which lost 6.25% or 1.00 points to trade at 15.00 in late trade. Choice Develop (TW:9929) declined 6.03% or 0.70 points to end at 10.90 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) shed 5.68% or 0.90 points to 14.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 395 to 345 and 111 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.79% or 0.36 to $45.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.85% or 0.41 to hit $47.94 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.55% or 7.35 to trade at $1354.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.59% to 31.151, while TWD/CNY rose 0.47% to 0.2130.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.54% at 95.06.
