Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.77% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which rose 2.63% or 0.32 points to trade at 12.50 at the close. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) added 2.06% or 0.84 points to end at 41.89 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.95% or 0.43 points to 22.47 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 2.80% or 0.42 points to trade at 14.61 in late trade. NN Group (AS:NN) declined 1.23% or 0.30 points to end at 24.42 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 0.73% or 0.028 points to 3.823.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 105 to 56 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.77% to 15.90 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 4.82% or 2.01 to $43.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 4.74% or 2.09 to hit $46.14 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1351.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1157, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8608.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 95.71.
