Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Textile, Semiconductor and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asmedia (TW:5269), which rose 9.97% or 18.00 points to trade at 198.50 at the close. Pao Lung (TW:1906) added 9.90% or 1.00 points to end at 11.10 and Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) was up 9.69% or 1.40 points to 15.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Space Shuttle (TW:2440), which lost 9.07% or 0.73 points to trade at 7.32 in late trade. Iteq (TW:6213) declined 4.46% or 1.55 points to end at 33.20 and Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) shed 4.22% or 0.19 points to 4.31.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 396 to 334 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.20% or 0.08 to $40.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.05% or 0.02 to hit $43.12 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.57% or 7.75 to trade at $1356.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.19% to 31.683, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2084.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 95.64.
