Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Food sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr), which rose 9.38% or 0.2100 points to trade at 2.4500 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 8.73% or 0.040 points to end at 0.498 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was up 7.27% or 0.020 points to 0.264 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr), which lost 4.91% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.581 in late trade. Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) declined 4.35% or 0.060 points to end at 1.320 and Terna Energy (AT:TENr) shed 3.92% or 0.100 points to 2.450.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 41 to 40 and 17 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.68% or 9.25 to $1357.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.97% or 0.46 to hit $46.97 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.52 to trade at $48.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1065, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.8551.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 96.25.
