Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 2.84% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Montepio (LS:MPIO), which fell 0.55% or 0.003 points to trade at 0.546 at the close. Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) fell 0.63% or 0.0070 points to end at 1.1050 and REN (LS:RENE) was down 0.76% or 0.0200 points to 2.5970 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 8.18% or 0.0018 points to trade at 0.0202 in late trade. Sonae (LS:YSO) declined 6.21% or 0.0540 points to end at 0.8150 and The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) shed 5.87% or 0.1690 points to 2.7080.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 43 to 4 and 3 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for August delivery was down 0.59% or 0.30 to $50.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.61% or 0.30 to hit $48.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.97% or 12.35 to trade at $1288.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1286, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.7933.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 94.42.
