Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 4.62% or 67.00 points to trade at 1517.00 at the close. JSC VTB Bank DRC (LON:VTBRq) added 4.51% or 0.069 points to end at 1.599 and Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN) was up 1.79% or 5.40 points to 307.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Surgutneftegaz L (LON:SNGSyq), which lost 4.12% or 0.36 points to trade at 8.38 in late trade. Informa PLC (LON:INF) declined 3.55% or 30.40 points to end at 827.00 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) shed 3.52% or 181.00 points to 4965.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1402 to 743 and 210 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.32% or 5.05 to $1555.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.26% or 0.15 to hit $58.73 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.26 to trade at $64.94 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.3053, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8497.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.335.
