Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.22% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 9.34% or 0.702 points to trade at 8.220 at the close. Vopak (AS:VOPA) added 1.52% or 0.61 points to end at 40.85 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was up 1.31% or 0.18 points to 14.29 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 2.68% or 0.59 points to trade at 21.60 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.29% or 0.175 points to end at 13.425 and NN Group (AS:NN) shed 1.23% or 0.39 points to 31.38.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 80 to 48 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.76% to 13.37.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.98% or 1.05 to $54.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 2.12% or 1.18 to hit $56.81 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.20% or 2.45 to trade at $1234.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.0642, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8519.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 100.70.
