(Reuters) - United Continental Holdings Inc (N:UAL) said it expected to release more details about the hospitalisation of its chief executive officer, Oscar Munoz, later on Monday or on Tuesday.
Munoz, 56, suffered a heart attack last Thursday less than two months after becoming CEO of United, the second largest U.S. airline by capacity, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The company said on Monday it will finish the "corporate governance process" brought about by Munoz's hospitalization, but did not elaborate.
The company's board was promptly informed about the incident on Thursday, the source said. United did not inform investors of Munoz's hospitalization until the Wall Street Journal reported it on Friday. The company remained silent on Munoz's condition through the weekend.
United's failure to promptly announce Munoz's admission to a hospital or provide details has raised concerns about whether the company was disclosing enough to investors.
