Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 8.84% or 3.510 points to trade at 43.200 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 1.51% or 0.99 points to end at 66.34 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was up 1.15% or 1.25 points to 109.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 0.81% or 0.395 points to trade at 48.635 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 0.66% or 0.20 points to end at 29.18 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.59% or 0.09 points to 14.31.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 72 to 63 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.47% or 6.05 to $1296.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.48% or 1.14 to hit $44.78 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.00% or 1.42 to trade at $45.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1511, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.7850.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 92.69.
