Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 2.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which rose 12.87% or 4.31 points to trade at 37.80 at the close. KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) added 9.34% or 6.66 points to end at 77.97 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) was up 8.39% or 6.50 points to 84.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which lost 2.64% or 2.05 points to trade at 75.50 in late trade. Energa SA (WA:ENGP) declined 1.46% or 0.29 points to end at 19.55 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) shed 0.97% or 0.40 points to 41.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 350 to 195 and 112 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 9.17% or 3.54 to $42.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 8.19% or 3.54 to hit $46.67 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.60 to trade at $1123.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.15% to 4.2354, while USD/PLN rose 0.94% to 3.7754.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.66% at 95.93.
