Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 2.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elgeka (AT:ELGr), which rose 4.37% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.239 at the close. Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) added 3.89% or 0.14 points to end at 3.74 and Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) was up 3.67% or 0.011 points to 0.311 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr), which lost 11.21% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.103 in late trade. Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr) declined 10.69% or 0.017 points to end at 0.142 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) shed 8.11% or 0.003 points to 0.034.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 66 to 26 and 5 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.74% or 8.40 to $1124.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.22% or 1.51 to hit $45.45 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.89% or 0.93 to trade at $47.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.1122, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.7237.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 96.50.
