Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.96% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which rose 10.00% or 0.0130 points to trade at 0.1430 at the close. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) added 9.23% or 0.059 points to end at 0.698 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was up 8.84% or 0.063 points to 0.776 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Halcor (AT:XAKO), which lost 7.53% or 0.022 points to trade at 0.270 in late trade. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) declined 5.26% or 0.01 points to end at 0.18 and Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr) shed 2.49% or 0.024 points to 0.938.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 46 to 35 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.45% or 6.15 to $1358.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.36% or 1.40 to hit $43.11 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.38% or 1.49 to trade at $45.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1172, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.8617.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 95.61.
