Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 10.24% or 14.14 points to trade at 152.19 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 27.30 and Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) was up 3.90% or 0.09 points to 2.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC), which lost 4.99% or 1.18 points to trade at 22.48 in late trade. Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) declined 2.28% or 0.14 points to end at 6.02 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 2.17% or 0.15 points to 6.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 27 to 21 and 40 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.03% or 0.93 to $44.99 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.34% or 0.66 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.55% or 6.10 to trade at $1103.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.53% to 224.190, while USD/NGN rose 0.10% to 199.005.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 95.23.
