Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.32%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 3.79% or 3.05 points to trade at 83.60 at the close. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) added 3.62% or 1.70 points to end at 48.48 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) was up 3.16% or 1.04 points to 33.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PA:TECF), which lost 0.77% or 0.45 points to trade at 58.15 in late trade. Danone SA (PA:DANO) declined 0.19% or 0.12 points to end at 63.69 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) shed 0.10% or 0.05 points to 52.42.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Neopost (PA:NPOS) which rose 4.12% to 24.99, Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) which was up 3.79% to settle at 83.60 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) which gained 3.62% to close at 48.48.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 3.04% to 4.843 in late trade, Bureau Veritas (PA:BVI) which lost 2.69% to settle at 17.89 and Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 2.25% to 18.505 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 462 to 215 and 115 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.85% to 18.47.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.58% or 7.25 to $1263.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $50.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.21% or 0.11 to trade at $51.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0992, while EUR/GBP fell 1.04% to 0.8931.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 97.79.
