Investing.com – Peru equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking & Financials, Food & Beverages and Non-Metal Minerals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General declined 0.26% to hit a new 3-year low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Buenaventura (LM:BVN), which rose 10.03% or 0.670 points to trade at 7.350 at the close. Trevali Mining (LM:TV) added 1.59% or 0.010 points to end at 0.640 and Southern Copper Corp (LM:SPC) was up 0.90% or 0.25 points to 28.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca (LM:POM), which lost 5.56% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.170 in late trade. Bco Continenta (LM:CON) declined 5.37% or 0.190 points to end at 3.350 and Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) shed 3.92% or 0.020 points to 0.490.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 15 to 6 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.62% or 0.27 to $43.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $50.22 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.39% or 15.40 to trade at $1123.20 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was up 0.20% to 3.2255, while EUR/PEN rose 1.39% to 3.5822.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 96.31.
