Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 2.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT), which fell 0.15% or 0.0150 points to trade at 10.1100 at the close. Teixeira Duarte (LISBON:TDSA) fell 0.67% or 0.0030 points to end at 0.4420 and Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP) was down 0.75% or 0.0670 points to 8.8610 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Semapa (LISBON:SEM), which lost 5.70% or 0.6750 points to trade at 11.1750 in late trade. Banco BPI (LISBON:BBPI) declined 4.31% or 0.0410 points to end at 0.9100 and Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) shed 4.29% or 0.0120 points to 0.2680.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 38 to 13 on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for November delivery was down 1.87% or 0.92 to $48.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.22% or 1.51 to hit $45.45 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.71% or 8.00 to trade at $1124.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1121, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.7235.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 96.50.
