Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Banking and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 1.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Dromeas (AT:DROr), which rose 4.92% or 0.006 points to trade at 0.128 at the close. Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) added 4.69% or 0.015 points to end at 0.335 and Terna Energy (AT:TENr) was up 3.56% or 0.08 points to 2.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr), which lost 13.18% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.270 in late trade. Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr) declined 12.24% or 0.012 points to end at 0.086 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) shed 8.16% or 0.008 points to 0.090.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 58 to 19 and 2 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.19% or 2.30 to $1194.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.38% or 1.80 to hit $55.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.98% or 1.19 to trade at $60.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.0589, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.7170.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 99.29.
