Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 2.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AMS:GTO), which rose 0.78% or 0.46 points to trade at 59.80 at the close. NN Group (AMS:NN) fell 1.14% or 0.29 points to end at 25.23 and TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) was down 1.40% or 0.103 points to 7.271 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which lost 5.92% or 0.34 points to trade at 5.46 in late trade. Altice NV (AMS:ATCA) declined 5.03% or 1.20 points to end at 22.65 and DSM Kon (AMS:DSMN) shed 4.30% or 1.89 points to 41.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 150 to 28 and 5 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 17.81% to 30.88.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 3.24% or 1.52 to $45.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.91% or 0.94 to hit $47.98 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.72% or 8.20 to trade at $1124.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1123, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.7236.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 96.50.
