Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy, Information Technology and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 2.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which rose 6.42% or 4.30 points to trade at 71.30 at the close. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) added 5.34% or 0.14 points to end at 2.76 and Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) was up 5.01% or 1.31 points to 27.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which lost 4.88% or 0.45 points to trade at 8.77 in late trade. Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) declined 3.45% or 1.72 points to end at 48.13 and Boryszew SA (WA:BORY) shed 0.21% or 0.01 points to 4.67.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 315 to 258 and 93 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 2.93% or 0.92 to $30.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 2.87% or 0.92 to hit $30.96 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.06% or 11.60 to trade at $1084.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.21% to 4.3600, while USD/PLN rose 0.54% to 4.0280.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 99.27.
