Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Biotech & Medical Care sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Awea Mech (TW:1530), which rose 10.00% or 2.85 points to trade at 31.35 at the close. Sanita (TW:1817) added 9.97% or 3.50 points to end at 38.60 and Super Dragon (TW:9955) was up 9.93% or 1.50 points to 16.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coland (TW:4144), which lost 9.86% or 6.50 points to trade at 59.40 in late trade. Kaori Heat (TW:8996) declined 8.17% or 3.85 points to end at 43.25 and King Slide (TW:2059) shed 8.05% or 35.00 points to 400.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 664 to 172 and 2 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.02% or 0.45 to $44.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.92% or 0.45 to hit $48.62 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.49% or 5.30 to trade at $1093.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.03% to 32.736, while TWD/CNY rose 1.09% to 0.1952.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 99.07.
