Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 9.06% or 0.25 points to trade at 3.01 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 6.40% or 1.07 points to end at 17.79 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) was up 5.23% or 0.81 points to 16.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which lost 7.96% or 0.37 points to trade at 4.28 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 6.22% or 0.24 points to end at 3.62 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) shed 5.69% or 0.38 points to 6.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 166 to 147 and 6 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.07% to 53.68.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.44% or 4.90 to $1108.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.23% or 0.55 to hit $44.08 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 2.94% or 3.42 to trade at $120.05 .
USD/BRL was down 1.56% to 3.8104, while EUR/BRL fell 1.80% to 4.3140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 95.39.
