Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AMS:ING), which rose 1.34% or 0.175 points to trade at 13.275 at the close. Altice NV (AMS:ATCA) added 1.32% or 0.31 points to end at 23.73 and Heineken (AMS:HEIN) was up 1.19% or 0.81 points to 69.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AMS:GTO), which lost 1.96% or 1.19 points to trade at 59.39 in late trade. Vopak (AMS:VOPA) declined 1.30% or 0.48 points to end at 36.73 and OCI (AMS:OCI) shed 1.17% or 0.305 points to 25.700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 95 to 80 and 2 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.38% to 33.44.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 3.50% or 1.61 to $44.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 3.66% or 1.81 to hit $47.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.80 to trade at $1118.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1166, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7305.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 96.16.
