Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.96% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.17% or 0.430 points to trade at 8.740 at the close. Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) added 3.87% or 1.26 points to end at 33.82 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 3.82% or 0.76 points to 20.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 0.63% or 0.36 points to trade at 56.45 in late trade. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) added 0.11% or 0.003 points to end at 2.668 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) gained 0.48% or 0.080 points to 16.810.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 102 to 32 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.35% to 13.91.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.22% or 0.12 to $53.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $56.44 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 6.50 to trade at $1247.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0567, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8582.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 101.59.
