Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 1.47% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 5.29% or 0.0090 points to trade at 0.1790 at the close. Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) added 4.67% or 0.0280 points to end at 0.6280 and Semapa (LS:SEM) was up 3.12% or 0.3500 points to 11.5850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Montepio (LS:MPIO), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to trade at 0.475 in late trade. REN (LS:RENE) added 0.04% or 0.0010 points to end at 2.7000 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) gained 0.33% or 0.0060 points to 1.8090.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 37 to 8 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was down 0.64% or 0.29 to $45.10 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.49% or 0.21 to hit $42.81 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.31% or 4.15 to trade at $1345.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1105, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8545.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 96.15.
